Flavia Amad is a celebrated Argentine chef and culinary visionary whose work bridges tradition, technique, and deep personal storytelling. Born and raised in Mendoza, her cuisine is rooted in the flavors of her childhood — drawing on her Italian, Arab, and Spanish heritage — yet elevated through classical training and global experience.
After beginning her academic journey in Business Administration, Flavia found her true calling in the kitchen. She studied at the Escuela Internacional Islas Malvinas, earning both a technical degree and a bachelor’s in Gastronomic Management, and later graduated with honors from Le Cordon Bleu in Florida. Her early career included internships at renowned New York kitchens, including those of Daniel Boulud and Anthony Bourdain, where she absorbed diverse culinary perspectives that continue to inform her approach.
Today, Flavia serves as Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Manager for the culinary offerings at Susana Balbo Unique Stays, including the hotel’s signature restaurants La Vida, Osadía de Crear, and Críos in Mendoza’s wine country. Her menus showcase the region’s seasonal produce with a thoughtful blend of technique and intuition — from refined tasting menus to relaxed, flavor-forward dishes — always with a focus on sustainability and respect for place.
Flavia is also a passionate advocate for women in gastronomy. She co-leads Al Mando, a series celebrating female chefs, winemakers, and producers, fostering community and visibility within a traditionally male-dominated industry.
