Mike Kobler is part of a new wave of Sonoma County winemakers bringing precision and energy to cool-climate wines. Raised in Santa Rosa and shaped by hands-on experience in his family’s vineyards, Kobler developed a deep understanding of farming early on — a foundation that now guides his work in the cellar.
He founded Kobler Estate in 2010, building on his family’s Sebastopol plantings of Syrah and Viognier. Since stepping into the role of Head Winemaker in 2021, he has refined the estate’s style toward balance, texture, and vibrant acidity, crafting wines that are polished yet restrained.
Now leading the next evolution of the estate vineyard, Kobler is introducing new, site-driven varietals set to debut in the coming year — signaling an exciting new chapter for the winery.
