Elin McCoy is an award-winning journalist and author focusing on the world of wine.

She is the wine critic for Bloomberg News, where she has written a column since 2001 that goes out on their global newswire.

She’s also the U.S. columnist for the podcast The Wine Conversation, which has listeners in 95 countries, and writes frequently for another U.K. publication, the World of Fine Wine, as well as for her own blog at www.elinmccoy.com. She has been shortlisted for the prestigious Louis Roederer wine writing awards.

McCoy’s book, The Emperor of Wine: The Rise of Robert M. Parker, Jr. and the Reign of American Taste, garnered international praise in more than 200 reviews worldwide, is available in six foreign editions, and is forthcoming in Chinese.

McCoy grew up in Chicago, graduated from University of Pennsylvania, then attended graduate school at the University of London and New York University.

She got her wine start at Food & Wine magazine, and has written several thousand articles on wine, travel, and other topics for many other publications, including The New York Times. She’s also the co-author of three other books on wine and food topics.

 

 

When not traveling, she lives in Connecticut with her husband, writer/artist John Frederick Walker.
