Angelos Iatridis

Winemaker & Co-Founder

Alpha Estate | Amyndeon, Greece

Angelos Iatridis is the visionary chemist-oenologist behind Alpha Estate, one of Greece’s most influential and internationally respected wineries. Born and raised in Thessaloniki, Iatridis originally pursued chemistry before discovering his passion for winemaking—a calling that led him to study oenology at the Faculty of Oenology in Bordeaux, where he earned his master’s degree and trained at prestigious regions including Médoc, Alsace, Champagne, and beyond.

With years of experience working across Greece and abroad, Iatridis returned home to apply his scientific expertise and global perspective to Greek terroir. In 1997, together with viticulturist Makis Mavridis, he co-founded Alpha Estate in the high-altitude viticultural zone of Amyndeon in northwestern Greece—a region he identified as uniquely suited for premium winegrowing.

Under Iatridis’s leadership, Alpha Estate has become synonymous with precision, innovation, and a deep respect for site-specific expression. His approach blends rigorous scientific methodology with hands-on craftsmanship, resulting in wines that consistently reflect both the cool mountain climate and indigenous Greek varieties like Xinomavro, alongside selective international grapes.

Today, Iatridis continues to shape Alpha Estate’s ethos—advancing sustainable viticulture and progressive winemaking techniques that honor the land, the grape, and the enduring legacy of Greek wine.
