American Seasons is nestled downtown in the heart of the historic district. Ihsan Gurdal, a long-time friend of the Nantucket Wine Festival, is considered to be one of the great cheese savants in the world. From his base at Formaggio Kitchen in Cambridge, Ihsan travels the world seeking out artisan producers of the world's finest cheeses. His performance is masterful, combining passion and intellect. He will take you through a sensory exploration of cheese and some favored condiments and explain the relationship between cheese and wine. Wines from Robert Kacher Selections, presented by Carole Decouard. Bobby Kacher is considered by Robert Parker to be one of the most important of America's artisan importers and has literally changed the way wine has been made in Europe. Richard Arrowood is one of the most esteemed winemakers in California. He put Chateau St. Jean on the map with their early bottlings. In 1986, winemaker Michael Etzel and his "beau frere", Robert Parker Jr, purchased an old farm in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, then slowly transformed the land into the jewel of a vineyard it is today. Since their first vintage in 1991, the Beaux Freres philosophy has remained the same; to produce world-class Pinot Noir from small, well-balanced yields. Stuart Bryan and Suzanne Pride Bryan, owners of Pride Mountain Vineyards, will pour a rare vertical of their acclaimed Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2001-2006. 10:30am-11:30am SEM-20 The Sonoma Coast: America's Hottest Viticultural Region
The far coast of Sonoma County, the "true Sonoma Coast," is home to some of the New World's most distinctive pinot noir. David Hirsch, a viticultural pioneer there, started planting his now-famous vineyard above Fort Ross in 1980. Kistler, Williams Selyem, Littorai and other legendary California producers have made vineyard designates from Hirsch, a group that has narrowed since Hirsch built his own winery on site in 2002. Jamey Whetstone purchased grapes from Hirsch until 2005. Based in St. Helena, Whetstone trained at Turley Wine Cellars before establishing his own label in 2002. He now produces several bottlings of Sonoma Coast pinot noir. Join Joshua Greene, editor and publisher of Wine & Spirits; David Hirsch, proprietor of Hirsch Vineyards; and Jamey Whetstone, proprietor of Whetstone Wine Cellars, in a discussion of the wines of the Sonoma Coast. Whetstone and Hirsch will provide their perspectives on the Sonoma Coast through their wines, including varied interpretations from the Hirsch Vineyard, produced by Whetstone, Hirsch and others.

While guests sip Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne, Darra Goldstein, editor of Gastronomica, America's most thoughtful food magazine, will moderate a discussion of Nantucket and Champagne in 1810, the first year that Veuve Clicquot released a vintage Champagne. Featured guests will be Veuve Clicquot Cellar Master Dominique Demarville and Ben Simons, Robyn & John Davis Chief Curator of the Nantucket Historical Association. After the discussion, we will taste three vintages of Veuve Clicquot, each paired with an artisan caviar from Rich Brauman of Little Pearl. Wines: Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2002 Blanc, Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2002 Rose, and Veuve Clicquot Rare Vintage 1985 Rose.
